Thank you for your willingness to help with JA Finance Park on a student visit day. Your participation is important to the students' success as they find out what it is like to balance a budget on a limited income.
Briefly, the project is about creating a budget for a fictional life situation. The students will:
- Be assigned a job and a family situation -- a character they will become for the day
- Determine their Net Monthly Income (NMI), after taxes and deductions
- Make spending and saving decisions in seventeen budget categories
- Create a balanced budget
- Track the value of a stock portfolio
- Provide access to your adult experiences relating to spending decisions
- Help with calculations and critical thinking
- Monitor student progress and keep them on task
