WHAT IS JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF MISSISSIPPI VALLEY?
Junior Achievement of Mississippi Valley (JAMVI) is the fifth largest JA Worldwide operation in the United States. We educate young people about work readiness, entrepreneurship, and personal finance with hands-on, engaging programs.

PURPOSE
Our purpose is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.

PROGRAM REACH
JA of Mississippi Valley reaches over 127,000 students per year in 5,500 classrooms and afterschool locations. JA programs are taught by volunteers in inner cities, suburbs, and rural areas in eastern Missouri and southwestern Illinois.

VOLUNTEERS
JAMVI’s 7,500 classroom volunteers come from all walks of life and include business people, college students, parents, and retirees. These dedicated individuals are the backbone of the organization. These volunteers have delivered programs in 44 counties served by JAMVI.

PROVEN SUCCESS
JA is one of a few global nonprofits to use independent, third-party evaluators to gauge the impact of its programs. Since 1993, independent evaluators have conducted studies on JA’s effectiveness. Findings prove that JA has a positive impact in a number of critical areas. Click here to see some of the evaluation results.

LEADERSHIP
Robert W. Reeg, President of Global Technology and Operations, MasterCard Worldwide, is chairman of the JAMVI board of directors. Lori Jacob is JAMVI’s president and chief executive officer.

A BRIEF HISTORY
Junior Achievement was founded in 1919 by Theodore Vail president of American Telephone & Telegraph; Horace Moses, president of Strathmore Paper Co.; and Senator Murray Crane of Massachusetts. Its first program, JA Company Program, was offered to high school students on an after-school basis.  Junior Achievement of Mississippi Valley has served hundreds of thousands of area students for 67 years since its inception in 1943.

FUNDING
JAMVI operates on a $2.46 million annual budget.
