As a child growing up in Salem, Illinois, John Bachmann spent many hours talking to his grandfather about investing, deepening his understanding of the financial markets – the notion of buying stock in a company, following that particular company and then selling that stock later on.These conversations planted the seed that led to a blossoming career in the financial services industry – including 23 years at the helm of Edward Jones. The investment lessons he learned as a child stayed with him as he completed his college education at Wabash College and later pursued an MBA at Northwestern University.Throughout his career, he displayed in an interest in innovation and strategy. He embraced the concept of focusing on individual investors and meeting their investment needs. During his tenure as Edward Jones’ managing partner, John’s vision of serving others was at the forefront of every decision. John instilled the notion of service and the desire to learn. These concepts are evident today as Edward Jones has grown from a firm with nearly 300 offices to more than 9,200. Today, Edward Jones serves more than six million investors throughout the U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom.
